For next week, I want you to do something a little different!

Think about the livestock guardian animals that you have learned about so far.  I want you to pick one, or some, or all of them, and come up with Super Hero names!  (You can even think about other types of farm guardians!)  

 

We are going to do something fun in class with our ideas!

Things to do by 1/21

This week's writing assignment (choose one):

• Write a story about a donkey that protects his farm from danger.  Use at least 4 words from your word list!

• A friend of yours wants to buy a donkey to be a livestock guardian dog, but he or she does not know anything about donkeys!  Write a letter to him/her, explaining all about donkeys.  Use your word list!

Welcome back, class!

In the last class, we learned all about guardians of the farm.  We focused on guardian livestock dogs such as the great pyrenees.  Here are a few writing topics for your writing assignment.  Just choose one, do your best, and bring it in to share with your friends!

• Write a story about the dog that visited our class, Pooh Bear!

• Write a story about a guardian dog that protected a farm from danger.

• Write about the difference between livestock guardian dogs, service dogs, and herding dogs, and pet dogs!

• Write about making beeswax lip balm!
• It's almost Thanksgiving!  Write a story about a thankful little bee.  :-)

Choose 1--

1. Remember the book "The Very Greedy Bee"?  Write your own version of the story!
2. In the book, the bee was not very nice to his friends.  What made him change in the end?  Can you think of a time someone was greedy?  What happened?
3. Write about the different stages in a bee's life (egg, larvae, pupa, adult).
4. Come up with a story of a bee as it wait in his or her cell to hatch!

• Remember the story that we read about the bee and the bug?  They had a very hard time finding two costumes that went together... and we very frustrated!  Write about a time when you were frustrated.  What did you do to make it better?

Write a letter to a friend who is very frustrated.  She needs your advice!  What could you tell her that could help her to feel better?  Is there anything she can do to make it better or worse?

• In class, we learned how bees tell if other bees are from their colony.  Write a story about a bee who meets another bee!
