For Wednesday, 10/31

Thursday

**The class can dress up in costume on Wednesday!  If you have a special treat to bring in, we can have them after lunch!  We have a dairy allergy and a food dye allergy, so contact me if you were hoping to bring something in.**

Abeka (Spelling/Reading/Phonics)

  • Phonics Lesson 51
  • Lesson 52 in Spelling, Reading, and Phonics 
  • Study the poem on p. 65 of your Spelling & Poetry Book.  We will recite them in class, next Wednesday, if possible!

Writing

  • Your writing topic for the week is "The Best Halloween Ever"
  • Do your best and use your best handwriting!  Bring it to class on Wednesday!

Spanish

  • Keep listening to and singing the song for the Seasons (#7), the Months of the Year, and Cabesa Cintura (#17)

 

Math

  • Please work very hard on memorizing addition facts that equal 10 (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, and so on)
  • Use flashcards, if possible, to practice addition facts that equal 10 and below.  Having these memorized aids in mental math strategies for adding larger numbers!
  • Watch these videos with your children. Pause and discuss or work through problems as you go, if needed!
  • Complete workbook pages 101-104


Science

  • Read Chapter 1


History

  • Next Wednesday, October 31...our first grade class will vote in the presidential election!

    Ask your parents about Democrats and Republicans.
    Do you remember which animal represents the Democrats?
    Do you remember which animal represents the Republicans?

Tuesday

    • Instruction on Phonics/Reading/Spelling for the lesson, with workbook pages listed in Curriculum Guide.   
    • In class tomorrow, we will review spelling list #7. This is the list that you began at home on Thursday of last week, so we will be playing a review game with it in prep for their at home assessment.

 

Handwriting

  • Choose a border sheet from the back of your handwriting book.  Either tear it out or make a copy of it.  Take the Bible verse from Lesson 5, Day 4, and copy it very carefully onto the border sheet.  Color it and bring it to class tomorrow!  This is like your weekly handwriting quiz, so do your very best!

 

Writing

  • Be sure to finish your writing.  Do your best! We will show it off in class!

  • Practice your math problems up to 10!  Use computer games that I have listed in the past, flashcards, or just have your parents quiz you!
