Thursday

Writing

  • Your writing topic for the week is "Giving Thanks".  Write about the things you are thankful for.  Last week's writing assignment was amazing!  Keep up the good work.  Use your very best handwriting, capital letters, and punctuation!
  • Bring it to class on Wednesday!

Grammar

  • Lesson 45
  • Study the poem on page 65 of your Spelling & Poetry book.  We will record it on Wednesday for anyone who has it memorized!

 

 

Science

  • Discuss with your parents what you learned in class yesterday.  Tell them about the lab!
  • Go back and watch the videos from last week for those who did not.

 

 

Spanish

  • Find a large shoebox or two and bring them in on Wednesday!  It doesn't have to be a shoebox.. Just a box that is similar in size.  You will be turning them into a doll house for the next Spanish lesson.

 

Math

  • Please work very hard on memorizing addition facts that equal 10 (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, and so on)
  • Use flashcards, if possible, to practice addition facts that equal 10 and below.  Having these memorized aids in mental math strategies for adding larger numbers!
  • Textbook page 77
  • There are many workbook pages that go over the addition and subtraction practice for our recent lessons.  Because each child has their own pace, I will post the total workbook pages.  Parents can use them as needed for amount of practice that is appropriate for each child.
    • Workbook pages 116-131 (any pages within this range are good for the next couple weeks of extra practice!)


History

  •   Read Story of the World Chapter 18
    • Why did the Minoans hold bull-jumping festivals?
    • Were the bull-jumpers treated well?
    • Was bull-jumping dangerous?
    • What did pirates do in the Mediterranean Sea?   
    • What did the Minoans build to get rid of the pirates?

    •  Play "Mary Had A Little Lamb" with both hands 10 times
    • Play "Hot Cross Buns".  6 & 7 year olds, play each hand, separately.  8 and up play them together.

    • What were the people who came from Greece to conquer Crete called?
    • What were the Myceneans good at?
    • Where did the Mycenaeans build colonies? 
    • What did the Mycenean Greeks have that made them such strong fighters?
    • What kind of weapons did the barbarians have?
    • When the Greeks and Barbarians fought, who won? 

 

Math

  • Practice addition and subtraction facts that equal 10 or less.  You are working to memorize them!

  • Study the poem on page 65 of your Spelling & Poetry book.  We will record it on Wednesday for anyone who has it memorized!

Tuesday

    • Instruction on Phonics/Reading/Spelling for the lesson, with workbook pages listed in Curriculum Guide.   
    • In class tomorrow, we will review spelling list #10. This is the list that you began at home on Thursday of last week, so we will be playing a review game with it in prep for their at home assessment.

 

Handwriting

  • Choose a border sheet from the back of your handwriting book.  Either tear it out or make a copy of it.  Take the Bible verse from Lesson 7, Day 4, and copy it very carefully onto the border sheet.  Color it and bring it to class tomorrow!  This is like your weekly handwriting quiz, so do your very best!

  

Grammar

  • Study the poem on page 65 of your Spelling & Poetry book.  We will record it on Wednesday for anyone who has it memorized!


Writing

  • Be sure to finish your writing.  Do your best! We will show it off in class!

    • What hero is the Odyssey named after?
    • What was the one eyed monster called?
    • Who first wrote down these stories?
    • What god was honored by the first Olympic Games?
    • What mountain was the Olympics named after?
    • What is a virtue?
    • What virtues did the Olympic Games reward?
    • Who was allowed to compete in the Olympic Games?
