Thursday

Abeka (Spelling/Reading/Phonics)

• Phonics Lesson 111
• Lesson 112 in Spelling, Reading, and Phonics 
• There are corresponding workbook pages for the Spelling book, Letters & Sounds (for those utilizing Abeka phonics), Language book, and the Readers. 
• Work on memorizing the poem "God Gave Me Eyes" on p. 69 of your Spelling and Poetry book.  We will recite this poem on 2/20

Writing

• We learned about St. Valentine in class yesterday.  While he was in prison, he was comforted by all of the many letters that he received from people who loved him.  
• Your writing assignment is to write a letter to someone who is over seas, fighting for our country in our military.  You do not know this person, but you can write a letter explaining your feelings about him or her being there, ask questions, and give him or her your gratitude!

Grammar

• Go over lesson 72 together
• Study your grammar cards

• Find the Spanish cards that Ms. Rose made for you.  She made each of you a little envelope to keep them in.
• Study them so that you can play the game on Tuesday!

Tuesday

• In class tomorrow, we will review this week's spelling list.  This is the list that you began at home on Thursday of last week, so we will be playing a review game with it in prep for their at home spelling test.

• We have not needed videos this week.  However, when videos are posted, they are meant to be a "lecture" to watch before completing the assignment.  Watching the video after completing the assignment will prevent you from utilizing the methods explained in the lecture.  If you do not like the videos, you will need to purchase the Singapore Math Standards Edition 1B Home Instructor's Guide and teach the lesson along with the assignments in order to get a complete 1st grade math program.
